Radiator Repair & Maintenance
What causes the build-up of debris and sludge in radiators? What can we do to stop this? When do you need a powerflush?
Central heating sludge is a mixture of dirt from water and iron oxide (rust) from pipework. This results in cold spots on radiators and inefficient heating, due to restricted water flow, so you are spending more money keeping your house warm than you should. It also could damage the boiler, heat pump and valves, which could be costly to repair or replace.
By installing a magnetic filter, this innovative design will remove metallic debris that is present and maximise protection. During any service this magnetic filter will be cleaned.
A Powerflush should only be needed before you have a new boiler installed. However, some systems may need doing if installed incorrectly or have not had corrosion inhibitors added. Signs that you need a powerflush include:
-
Cold spots on radiators particularly at the bottom
-
Discoloured water when the radiator is bled
-
Radiators slow to heat up
-
Cold radiators and hot pipes
-
Boiler shuts down regularly and needs restarting
-
Noisy radiators or boiler makes a kettle sound
